January
2008
Happy New Year everyone and thanks for
all your support for Kate over the past year.
2008 started with an unexpected feature short for Kate in Dirty Linen Magazine looking at
her work with Badapple Theatre Company as well as the late breaking news of a cameo spot
for Kate at the prestigious Celtic Connections Festival that runs throughout the month of
January in Glasgow, Scotland.
Kate has a number of solo concerts coming up across the UK as well as a live home-town
show with Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies on 29th Feb. Radio play keeps rolling in from the
UK, USA and Australia for the new CD.We must also send out our congratulations to Jez Lowe for his
recent- and well deserved- nomination for 'Folksinger of the Year' at the BBC Radio 2 Folk
Awards.

June 2007- Kate has a feature review this month in PROPERGANDA magazine that is
distributed nationally to HMV, Virgin, small stores and music clubs.
The feature sings the praises of the new CD 'Little Canaan' : 'The album finds
Kate's talents on full display, showcasing her dexterity on fiddle, cittern and guitar
behind her rich and sensuous vocals...' (Full review can be found in media section).
May 2007- Kate takes a brief break from
touring next month to work with Badapple Theatre Company, which she launched in 1998, on
preparations for a high profile grassroots tour of a new drama slated for August 2007. See
www.badapple.freeserve.co.uk for full
info.
March 2007
Kate is just about to embark on a major round the world tour with
Jez Lowe, taking in dates in Germany, Canada and Australia before joining the full band
Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies for a tour of Canada and the USA that runs through to the end
of April 2007.
Kate has been featured on a number of key
radio shows over the last few months, most recently on SUNDAY STREET, an
acoustic-oriented program hosted by Charlie Backfish since
1978, is heard every Sunday morning from 9 AM until 11:30 AM on WUSB-FM,
90.1FM, from Stony Brook, New York. WUSB's signal covers much of the large Nassau-Suffolk
(Long Island) radio market as well as part of Connecticut. WUSB may also be heard on the
Internet at www.wusb.fm Just scroll down the homepage and
you'll see "Listen to WUSB live."
Also www.folkradio.co.uk
carried a dedicated programme that you can still listen to online.
Another feature on the Scottish web cast
The Garden Sessions is still available for download from www.gardensessions.co.uk as well as songs from
the new CD being played on Archie Fisher's Travelling Folk and Iain Anderson's late night
show on Radio Scotland.
October 2006
'Little Canaan' is receiving rave reviews
from the UK folk mags with Stirrings saying 'All told, this is an overwhelmingly
delightful CD that surpasses even my high expectations; I love it to bits!'. The album, as
we mentioned last month, is now available to download from I-Tunes, and they have just
sent us a direct link for the website- check it out at http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playListId=188797561
Kate herself has just returned from a German
tour for the Bad Pennies, and you can read more about that trip at her new blog at www.myspace.com/katebramley
Also we've just heard that the radio
programmes 'Prairie Celidh' in Winnipeg, Canada, and 'Albion and Beyond' from Arkansas,
USA will be featuring Kate's songs in the coming months.

June 2006
More album news! The final mixes for the
'Little Canaan' album are underway and the album has been confirmed for a fast
turnaround by Tantobie Records and Proper Music Distribution for a UK release date of 21st
August 2006. So you should start to see discs in stores shortly after that date. The album
will be launched in Canada in August at the Calgary and Edmonton folk festivals this
summer, and in mainland Europe at the Tonder Festival in Denmark. The release information
for the USA through Burnside Distribution has yet to be announced. You can of course buy
the new disc and any of Kate's available back catalogue from the CD page on this site.
We hear that some clips from the new CD will be posted shortly at Kate's myspace website www.myspace.com/katebramley
May 2006
Kate has been in the studio for the past
couple of weeks recording a new solo studio album and has just confirmed that James
Keelaghan is one of the special guests, as well as the Warner singer-songwriter Edwina
Hayes, Sean Taylor and Andy May. Jez Lowe is producing the album at Ron Angus' Studio One
in the North-east. The scheduled release date is 27th July to conincide with Calgary
Festival, but that is still to be confirmed... more news when we know it.....
April 2006
Kate has just returned from two months of solid touring with Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies.
The 'Round the World in 40 Days' tour took the four piece band from the UK to the east
coast of the USA, then on to San Francisco for one concert before heading off to New
Zealand. After a week of performances there the Bad Pennies took off for Australia for a 2
1/2 week coast to coast trip, which included the massive Port Fairy Festival. Always
heading west the band then made it to Holland and Belgium for a 10 day trip of theatre and
folk club concerts, before finally reaching the UK once more in early April.
Rumour has it that Kate has gone straight
into rehearsal for a new SOLO album to be recorded in late May- we think- and if this in
confirmed it will be her first studio album in six years.
She tells us she has also been working on a
new theatre script as part of a Writers Critical Development Scheme hosted by Yorkshire
Art Circus. This prestigious course is aimed at developing the skills of professional
writers from the Yorkshire Region. It concludes in early May so we may have more news
about future theatre developments then. |
