An upbeat, charming, touching and funny play based on the life and adventures of the celebrated local hero, James Herriot.

The new play focussed on the early years in the career of Herriot, known to millions from film and TV adaptations of his own popular novels, as the young vet finds his professional feet and adopts, and is adopted by, his new spiritual home, in the rural splendour of North Yorkshire.

'Near capacity audiences almost every night have expressed their enjoyment and admiration of the show, while the play itself is a subtle and fond tribute to the original stories, and Kent’s own performance is a tour de force of accents, emotions and humour.'
Northern Echo columnist

'Bramley's gentle play focuses on the early veterinary career of Herriot, as told by the vet himself in the genial form of Neil Kent, who plays all manner of roles with a change of hat here, and a sideways stance there for the most taciturn of pipe-smoking pub regulars.
Through Kent's tentative Herriot, we encounter the familiar Farnon double act of Siegfried and Tristan and ornery Yorkshire farmers with their gruff ways and gruffer sheep, and we learn of his first romantic steps with Helen.'
